My Biography

1. What positive, student-centered ideas do you have for moving Peace River School Division forward in its vision of student success in the next four years?

Student success begins with a school board that makes responsible, transparent, and courageous decisions.
My plan for the next 4 years is to move beyond words and continue the real work of building a stronger division for our kids. This includes:
a. Ensuring Our Rural Schools Thrive: I will continue to be a fierce advocate for our remote and rural schools, advocating to keep them viable and at the heart of our communities, so every student has the chance to learn close to home.
b. Prioritizing Classroom Spending: I will demand budgets that are fiscally responsible and prioritize spending on teachers, resources, and classroom needs, not on growing administrative overhead.

c. Protecting and Expanding Student Options: I will advocate to protect the diverse educational pathways our students need, from alternative programs to vocational training, ensuring every student has a route to success that works for them.
d. Building Trust Through Transparency: I will champion open communication and ensure that parents and community members always have a seat at the table and a voice in the decisions that affect their children.

2. What do you feel are the most important qualities you bring to the role of a school trustee?
The single most important quality for a trustee is the commitment to be the unwavering and accountable voice of the community they represent.
My record over the past 4 years has proven I bring exactly that.
The key qualities I offer are:
a. Accountability: I have consistently demonstrated that I serve the public first. I believe in transparency and my record shows I will not back down from that responsibility.
b. Courage: I am willing to ask the tough questions and stand on principle, even when it’s difficult. My commitment to fair and lawful governance was ultimately validated by the Court of King’s Bench.
c. A Commitment to True Collaboration: I believe that real collaboration isn't about quiet agreement or rubber-stamping decisions.
It’s about ensuring every perspective is heard through respectful debate, so the board serves the public
(not the other way around).

3. What other information do you want people to know about you?
As a long-time resident of the Peace River area and a dedicated parent, my only agenda is to build a better school division for our children and taxpayers.
But the most important thing for people to know is that my advocacy for our community has had a real, measurable impact. My successful court challenge of my unlawful disqualification by a group of trustees of the board affirm my role as your trustee. The court's decision sent a clear message that trustee Code-of-Conduct was being abused.
As a direct result, the Government of Alberta is introducing Bill 51, the Education Amendment Act, 2025, this fall so that no elected official can be removed from office unlawfully.
This proves that standing on principle for my community, can lead to positive, province-wide change.
That is the level of dedication I will continue to bring for the next 4 years.
