Priorities
1. Remote ‑Rural Dollars to Classrooms
Trim Central Office. Protect small rural schools. Publish a simple Remote-Rural $ to Classrooms score each budget.
2. Recruit & keep great teachers (Remote ‑Rural Plan)
Fight for a Remote Rural Allowance ($25,000/year per teacher).
Launch teacher ‑housing partnerships, mentorship for new hires, and a “grow-your-own” pathway from EAs to teachers.
3. Safe, reliable transportation
Winter routing and spare-driver pools; Practical bus-time targets; Better comms for delays/closures; Align bell times with daylight where feasible.
4. Connectivity & flexible learning
Backup internet for schools (redundant links or satellite), remote tutoring, and ready‑to‑go learning plans for storm days or medical travel.
5. Special needs first - remote supports
Fund aides and specialists before admin growth. Use tele‑assessments and itinerant teams to cut wait times. Set service standards parents can track.
6. Respect for support staff & bus drivers
Fair compensation. Reliable routes. Paid training and winter safety gear standards.
7. Close the learning gap
Targeted support for Indigenous students, co‑designed with communities. Measure progress each term and report it.
8. Transparency & good governance
Publish trustee expenses, voting records, and meeting summaries in plain language. No nepotism. No backroom deals.
